Encryption and Compression
Your files are processed prior being sent. They are compressed (the amount of compresson depends on the file type) and encrypted before any data is transferred. Using Incremental Backup, only the CHANGED portion of the file is uploaded. This technology ensures the time required to perform the backup and the data transmitted is kept to a minimum. You can restrict access to your data to specific locations, for added security within your own organisation.
Data Storage on YachtBackup Servers
The YachtBackup primary storage server is housed in TeleCity Datacentre, Amsterdam. The YachtBackup replication server is in the Schuberg Philis Datacenter and contains a mirror image of your backup.
We ensure the availability of your data by using hardware with the highest levels of redundancy built in. In the extremely unlikely event that TeleCity becomes permanently offline, we will switch our operations to the backup facility at Schuberg Philis, assuring that YachtBackup services will always be available.
Secure Data Centers
TeleCity and Schuberg Philis Datacenters have achieved ISO 9001:2000 status and BS7799 certification. Both are heavily protected against infiltration, fire and power outage.
BS7799 is a recognised industry standard for benchmarking Information Security Management Systems within an organisation. Once achieved, BS7799 certification demonstrates an organisation's formal, ongoing commitment to protecting the confidentiality, integrity and availability of both customers' and its own information from internal and external threat. ISO 9001:2000 identifies the organisation as a safe trading partner.
Both Datacentres monitor the servers with CCTV security systems and have permanent security guards.
There is NO better way for us to safeguard your data.
Software Security - Technical Details
- Point-to-point SSL communication between server and client.
- Supports HTTP/HTTPS Proxy and Socks v4/v5 firewall.
- Data is encrypted and stored with 128-bit encryption.
- Choice of different encryption algorithms, e.g. TwoFish, Triple DES, Advanced Encryption Standard (AES).
- Choice of different encryption modes, e.g. Electronic Cook Book (ECB) en Cipher Block Chaining (CBC).
- A random initialisation vector and iteration counter are generated automaticly during encryption.
- Each backup user can restrict online access to his files to a pre-defined list of IP addresses.
